Taylor Swift: ‘I’m Not a Clingy, Insane, Desperate Girlfriend’
Taylor Swift is smashing the rumors that she’s a boy-crazed songstress.
In the April issue of Vanity Fair, which hits newsstands next week, the 23-year-old insists, “If you want some big revelation, since 2010 I have dated exactly two people,” meaning Conor Kennedy and One Direction’s Harry Styles.
Swift also speaks out about the reputation she has earned for singing about her relationships. “For a female to write about her feelings, and then be portrayed as some clingy, insane, desperate girlfriend in need of making you marry her and have kids with her, I think that’s taking something that potentially should be celebrated – a woman writing about her feelings in a confessional way – that’s taking it and turning it and twisting it into something that is frankly a little sexist,” she says.
While sadly she does not dish about the individual relationships herself, she did allow an authorized source to talk about her romance with One Direction star Harry Styles. The insider told the mag that the British singer chased after her for a year before they went public with their romance. “He was all, like, ‘You’re amazing – I want to be with you. I want to do this,’” said the source. However, things ended when he was seen making out with another girl. After he won her back, they briefly dated publicly late last year, but they fizzled out again after their disastrous Caribbean vacation in early January.
The Grammy-winning songstress also had some – shall we say – harsh words for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who infamously joked about her love life at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. The funny co-hosts advised that the blond beauty should “Stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son.” But apparently, Swift didn’t find it funny and is now firing back. “You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people, because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women,’” Swift told Vanity Fair.
The Hollywood Reporter reached Poehler for comment on Tuesday afternoon, who responded, saying, “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.”
